Leicester’s Brendan Rodgers aiming to end 14-game winless run over Chelsea this weekend

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has recently spoken out about his awful record against Chelsea.

The FA Cup quarter-final stage is yet to be played out over the course of this weekend.

One of the more high-profile ties of the weekend pits Premier League high-flyers Leicester and Chelsea against each other on Sunday.

The Foxes (3rd) currently hold the advantage over Chelsea (4th) in terms of league position.

However, since the restart, it is advantage Chelsea – with Leicester looking far from their best in recent weeks.

Leicester have drawn their last two PL outings vs bottom-half sides, Brighton and Watford.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have picked up back-to-back wins over Aston Villa and Manchester City.

Rodgers’ awful record vs Chelsea

As well as struggling for form in the league, Brendan Rodgers also has a fairly awful record against the Blues throughout his managerial career.

Between 2004 and 2008, the former Liverpool boss had a coaching role with the capital giants.

But since departing Stamford Bridge to become a manager, Rodgers has actually never beaten his former side.

Said run spans over a staggering 14 games with several clubs including Swansea, Liverpool and Leicester.

However, as mentioned above, Rodgers has recently bee discussing his poor record against Chelsea, with the now Leicester man seemingly keen to finally bring it to an end to book a place in the FA Cup semi-finals:

“The record [against Chelsea] doesn’t really mean anything, but it does this weekend because we want to get into the semi-final.

“The ambition when I came in is to be challenging towards the top end of the table and in cup competitions. This club has never won the FA Cup and we can guarantee we will do everything we possibly can to go as far as possible.

“We’ve also got an extra incentive because we lost in the Carabao Cup semi-final against Aston Villa and that was an opportunity missed.”
